How to Download Steam on PC
Step 1: Go to the official site
Open your browser and go to store.steampowered.com. Click the green "Install Steam" button in the top-right corner.
Download only from steampowered.com — never a third-party site.
Step 2: Run the installer
The download is a small bootstrapper (~3.5 MB) called SteamSetup.exe. Run it, accept the license agreement, choose your install folder (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam), and click Install. Steam will then download the full client files (~350 MB) automatically.
Step 3: Launch Steam and create an account

Purchased games: After buying, find the game in your Library. Click "Install," choose your install drive, and Steam handles the download and installation.
Managing your library: Right-click any game to:

Steam Guard: Securing Your Account
Steam Guard adds a second verification step when logging in from a new device.

Troubleshooting
Steam won't open: Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) → End Task on all Steam processes → relaunch. If that fails: right-click the Steam shortcut → Properties → "Run as administrator".
