Understanding 8BitDo's Input Mode System

Connection Methods
USB (Recommended for competitive/latency-sensitive emulation)
Plug in and go. The controller defaults to X Input mode over USB on most models. If it opens in a different mode, hold Start + Y before plugging in.
USB latency: ~1ms polling, lowest possible input lag.
2.4GHz USB Dongle (Recommended for casual desktop use)
The USB nano-receiver included with Ultimate 2 and some Pro 2 kits connects at 2.4GHz — not Bluetooth. This gives you:

- No pairing step — plug the dongle in, hold the pairing button on the controller, done
- More stable than Bluetooth, no Android/phone interference

Bluetooth
Connect via Windows Bluetooth settings: put controller in pairing mode (hold pairing button 2+ seconds until LED flashes), pair in Windows.

RetroArch
